All-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 Launched in Malaysia, from RM168k, 2.5L 6AT, CBU Japan, No Hybrid No Turbo

Bermaz Motor has just officially launched the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 following its maiden preview at the KLIMS 2026.

The third-generation CX-5 arrives as a fully imported (CBU) model from Japan in a sole 2.5L engine option. Two variants are available at launch priced at RM168,510,40 without sunroof and RM171,510.40 if you prefer having a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood is a 2.5L SkyActiv-G naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission carried over from the previous KF-generation CX-5. However, the powertrain has been tweaked to adapt to the new CX-5’s larger body to deliver a natural and intuitive shifts with steady acceleration and relaxed cruising.

As such power is now at 188 PS and 257 Nm with a claimed fuel consumption of 7.6L/100 km.

The all-new CX-5 has grown substantially in dimensions, addressing the biggest deal breaker for most keen buyers – interior space.

Wheelbase has been stretched to 2,815 mm (+115 mm) and overall length to 4,690 mm (+115 mm). All these translates to a roomier cabin particularly for the rear passengers. Mazda quotes an increase of 64 mm in knee clearance (about 1 tennis balls worth) and 29 mm in headroom (1/2 a tennis ball worth).

The all important boot space in the 2026 Mazda CX-5 is now rated at 583L vs. 442L in the previous generation.

The sense of space is further elevated with the lighter tone Sport Tan upholstery colour – the only option for the new CX-5. Central to the cabin is the 12.9-inch touchscreen that houses all the cars main controls, including the climate control and ventilated seats.

Inside you won’t find fancy ambient lighting nor paddle shifters but you do get a 12-speaker BOSE sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, 360-degree camera, wireless charger and full suite of ADAS including Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Topping up RM3,000 adds on the panoramic sunroof.
