Proton has rewrote the playbook by introducing a C-Segment sedan priced below RM60,00. This is the new 2026 Proton S70 1.5L CVT with 2 variants available:

  • Proton S70 Lite – RM56,800
  • Proton S70 Prime – RM59,800

Both prices quoted are after RM3,000 introductory rebate and it undercuts the selling price of the top spec B-segment Proton Persona 1.6 Premium (RM58,300) & Perodua Myvi 1.5L AV (RM59,900).

1.5L NA + Torque Converter CVT

Sharing the same 1.5L i-GT 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Saga, the CVT is a WLY (Wanlijiang) sourced torque converter CVT used in other Geely models.

Power remains at 120 PS and 150 Nm while the torque converter CVT features 8-speed virtual ratios that Proton claims delivers a smoother and more responsive driving experience.

No ADAS but with Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

While the Proton S70 Prime & Lite variants don’t come with ADAS, only Blind Spot Monitor & Rear Cross Traffic Alert, it comes with Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto as standard on the 8-inch touchscreen display.

This feature is not available on the Persona nor Myvi and it greatly elevates the in-car entertainment & connectivity experience. Allowing you to project your phones content directly onto the car’s built-in screen.

However, it’s the Myvi that comes with the full suite of ADAS – including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Big Car with Rear Disc Brakes

The S70 Prime & Lite are the biggest car you can buy for the money. With a wheelbase of 2,627 mm, Proton classifies the S70 as a C-segment sedan. Although almost touching traditional C-segment wheelbase of above 2,700 mm, it is still the biggest car at this price point.

The longer wheelbase means you will get a more sophisticated and pliant ride compared to cars a segment below. Mechanically, it’s the only ICE car under RM60,000 with rear disc brakes which adds to the stopping power and braking feel. The only other car that offers rear disc brakes at this price point is its EV stablemate the e.MAS 5.

Unbeatable Value

Customers can choose from 6 colours for their 2026 Proton S70 Prime & Lite while the optional Aero Kit would set you back at RM3,130. Owners are also covered with 5-Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and 6 times Free Labour Service.
